Description of Computer Services at Hebron School

Hebron School has over 140 computers used for teaching and administration. All computers are networked together and provide access to individuals files, departmental files, email and internet. Our main servers run windows 2003 and the workstations use windows XP. Internet access is regulated and filtered by a Linux servers  Censornet v4.

Recent Changes

  • Upgrading all Lab computers to 512MB RAM (from 256MB)
  • Installed a wireless link between Lushington and Selborne - 10 times faster than the wire connection.
  • Rewired the network at Lushington so all workstations are only 2 switches away from the servers.
  • Investigating the use of Linux (edubuntu) as an alternative to Windows.

Future Plans

  • Redevelopment of Selborne Computer Lab
  • Increase the capacity of the largest Lab to 25 to accommodate all class sizes.
