Hebron School                Public Examination Results                    May/June 2007

Introduction: Hebron is a largely non-selective, independent, co-educational boarding school which offers the English National Curriculum to IGCSE and A level. Our exams are mostly with the Cambridge International Examinations Board (CIE) but a significant number are sat with Edexcel (London) and a few with AQA. Most of these exams are International A levels and International GCSEs – universally regarded as harder than their UK counterparts. The fine results which our students achieve are testimony to their hard work, support from parents, the incredible diligence of our staff and the ethos of the school as a whole – supported and created by so many. Slight changes in results from year to year may be the result of new syllabuses, changing resources and changes in teachers. Hebron offers 21 subjects across A level and IGCSE (but not every subject at every level). In addition, most of our students achieve highly across a range of activities (including Music, Drama, Sport and Outward Bounds) and thus emerge as ‘rounded’ young people.

Overall, we give thanks to God for His love, care and protection and for enabling students of all abilities to achieve results often in excess of their predictions.

Our 33% of A grades is well above the UK national score of 25.3% whilst the A-E pass rate of 98% tops the UK score of 96.9%. Of our 32 leavers, seven gained three A grades (one got four) and three others gained two A grades.

As these are AS results (Std.12 year), the students have the opportunity to improve on them as they move up to their A2 courses (the Std. 13 year). Of our 38 candidates, 10 gained at least three A grades (one gained six, two gained five and three gained four!).

 3. Standard 11 (the final year of IGCSE) - 43 students

The following is a table, which shows the percentage of students in each grade range over the past 5 years. (I.C.T. results have still to be confirmed.)

These are the best GCSE results for at least 5 years. Well done all! Some 42 of the 43 candidates gained at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or above. Five students gained A*/A in all eight subjects and two achieved this in seven subjects. Our 55% of grades at A*/A compares extremely favourably to the UK score of 19.5% whilst our 95% at grades A-C (usually regarded as ‘pass grades’ by employers/universities) significantly exceeds the UK score of 63.3%.

Many congratulations to students and staff on another excellent set of all-round public exam results.
