  Middle School
Middle school forms a foundation for the IGCSE exam. Students have the opportunity to explore and experiment with a variety of mediums, to tackle the principles of drawing, painting and personal expression. All our projects are linked in some way to art history in order to familiarise and establish an awareness of the cultural and historical significance of art within society.

Students are encouraged to develop their skills and to articulate their own personal language of expression, within the framework of expectations provided by the examination board.

  • Visual interpretation of a poem – mixed media

  • Exam: Students have six weeks to produce preliminary studies showing development in preparation for a 10 hour exam. In the exam their final piece is produced – the preliminary work is assessed together with the final piece in the U.K

  • Coursework – a personally chosen study (painting, sculpture or mixed media)
  • Externally marked exam (6 weeks preliminaries and a 15 hour final piece)
    Both coursework and the exam are sent to the U.K. for marking. Sculpture and some mixed media pieces are photographed as they cannot be posted.
Std.13 A2
 
  • Drawing classes
  • Related Study – students interview and study the work of an artist. The study is contained in the form of a book. The artists work is analysed and compared with other artists, contemporary and historical.
  • Coursework – personally chosen study developing into a final piece. The work may be painting, sculpture or mixed media.
    Both the Related Study and coursework are sent to the U.K. for marking. (Sculpture and some mixed media pieces are photographed as they cannot be posted.)
