Std.10 & 11 IGCSE Design and Technology (Technology) Cambridge CIE 0445
  Standard 10 and 11 follow the Cambridge IGCSE syllabus in Design and Technology, 0445 having two double periods (2 x 80 minutes). Group size varies but is normally about 10 students.
  This course is a predominantly engineering orientated featuring such topics as:
  • Mechanisms
  • Structures
  • Electronics
  • Common core (graphics, materials, manufacturing processes, energy, )
  • Design principles

Std. 12 & 13 AS/A2 Level Design and Technology Cambridge CIE 9705
  The Design and Technology course is primarily concerned with the Process of Designing and Making and how this relates to the manufactured world around us. The Process of Design is central to the course and students will develop their knowledge, understanding and skills by working through a range of practical projects and briefs. This will entail developing their initial design ideas from concept through to the making of the final product in a designerly manner.
  The course will include:
  • Identification and research of needs/problems
  • Communication of design ideas through sketching, rendering, modelling, technical graphics, CAD, reprographic techniques.
  • Graphic, Product , Packaging, Architectural Design
  • Case studies relating to products and product designers
  • Materials, technologies and processes for manufacture
  • Role of designers, legal ramifications.

Assessment
Internal assessment ranges through mini projects, classwork, preps, tests and past paper exercises
