Std. 11 We follow the Lernpunkt Deutsch 3 course as preparation for Edexcel GCSE examinations. The final examination consists of four papers: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing, there is no coursework.

Std.12 and 13 We study the Schauplatz course book which covers the two years of the A level syllabus in German. There are three sections: a transition section to help students to cope with the step up from GCSE, then:
 

An AS section covering the following topics:

  • Travel
  • Life and love
  • Food and health
  • The media
  • Rights and responsibilities
  • Work
  • Literature
The AS examination is taken at the end of Std. 12 and consists of three papers: Listening and Writing, Reading And Writing, and Oral. There is no coursework. The AS examination makes up 50% of the full A level.
 

An A2 section covering the following topics:

  • The environment
  • Social themes
  • The future
  • Ethical issues
  • Future hopes and plans
  • Politics and history

The A2 papers are taken at the end of Std. 13 and consist of the following: Listening and Writing, Reading and Writing, Writing in registers, Topics and texts (literature) and Oral. There is no coursework.
