Electronic Circuit

Std. 9 made circuits to make a buzzer come on after a time delay. This functionality may be desirable for a burglar alarm.

The circuit included a 555 timer which was used in the monostable mode. The circuit relies on an RC network which means that the time delay is dependant on the value of the electrolytic capacitor and the variable resistor.

The diagram shows the circuit in ‘crocodile clips’ which is a computer software package. The students tried out the circuit in crocodile clips before soldering the components onto their own printed circuit board
