Music

Junior School classes have two lessons a week of music, taken by a music specialist teacher.  During this time they will have opportunity to sing, play a range of instruments, compose their own pieces, develop rhythm skills, learn to read music, develop their listening and appreciation of a wide range of musical styles, and, in Std. 5&6 learn to play the recorder.  Technology is also used in music lessons, from compositional software to drum matrixes and music publishing.  Students can also request to learn an additional instrument - either piano, brass, strings, woodwind or singing.  There is a Junior School choir that practices every week and performs at special events.
