The details below are in addition to the School Media Guidelines which should be read first
-
To be noted:
-
Media Forms must be completed and kept up-to-date. If a device is not on a students form it will be confiscated
-
ALL devices must be clearly labelled
-
Pirated material is not allowed.
-
Songs should be legally owned
-
PSP games on memory cards are illegal and are therefore banned
-
limits:
-
portable Harddrives can only be brought by students with prior permission from the relevant HOD and CSDept
-
Students who are “blacklisted” ie who have broken the media policy previously will be limited to a maximum of 4 memory devices from among 1 mp3, 1 pen drive or hard drive , 1 camera with 1 memory card, 1 game device with 1 card, 1 phone and card. Extra devices may be left with CS dept. If a student has a reason to exceed this they should get permission from the CS dept. beforehand.
-
Mobile phones should not have internet access.
-
Checks:
-
At the beginning of each term we ask all students to hand in any memory devices they wish to connect to a school computer to be checked for viruses. Each device must be clearly and securely named and a listing of all files on it will be made.
-
Blacklisted students must hand in all their devices for checking (for both viruses and media content)
-
We will monitor for any copying of songs or games. This is clearly illegal whether or not the original copy is legal.
-
Devices may be checked if there are grounds for suspicion.
-
At the beginning of their first term, all students new to std 7-13 at Hebron will have their devices fully checked for materials including songs which break the media policy.
-
A random spot check across all years will be made for unacceptable media.
-
punishments
-
If a student is found to have a considerable amount of foul music or to have copied music they will be asked to delete all inappropriate music and reduce the number of songs to a prescribed limit
-
Existence of pornographic material will result in the device (all devices?) being confiscated and other punishments as decided.
-
Indecent/rude/inappropriate pictures or home movies will be dealt with as appropriate
-
Over aged games will be deleted or the device confiscated until the end of term.
-
Breaking the media policy will result in a student being “blacklisted” and/or their device(s) being banned for an appropriate length of time.
