 Introduction:

The Facilities’ Committee at Hebron School overseas ‘new work’ on both the Lushington and Selborne campuses. This work, sometimes subject to local planning approvals, is financed out of annually budgeted income in the main but occasionally from donations.

The Committee consists of the Principal, the Maintenance Supervisor, the Public Relations Officer, selected staff on both campuses and two senior students. It meets on average four times a term and its reports go to Senior Management and then to the School Council.

 Outstanding work awaiting planning permission:

  • Selborne: two staff flats to be built behind the A level Dorm building

  • Lushington: the ‘centenary’ building alongside the Sports’ Hall. This will consist of the Maintenance workshops, the Technology Department and the Art Department. Approval awaited since 1998!

Work completed since May 2007:

  • The second squash court converted into two new facilities on separate floors: a weights’ training room; a drama studio

  • Re-location of the UPS (uninterrupted power supply) for the ‘Treetops’ (computer) building

  • A pitched roof on ‘Hillside’ (A level boys’ Dorm) for a drying area and a social space but also for rainwater harvesting

  • Art Department modification: an expansion into the ‘old’ girls’ dayroom

  • Support Staff maintenance workshop: creation of a social space, principally for the men to have their school provided lunch

  • ‘Silverdale’ Dorm: provision of (temporary) extra space for six A level boys

  • Conversion of old Audio-Visual room into a Music Room: this has space for computers (A level and IGCSE music)
