Introduction:
The
Facilities’ Committee at Hebron School overseas ‘new work’ on both the
Lushington and Selborne campuses. This work, sometimes subject to local
planning approvals, is financed out of annually budgeted income in the
main but occasionally from donations.
The Committee
consists of the Principal, the Maintenance Supervisor, the Public
Relations Officer, selected staff on both campuses and two senior
students. It meets on average four times a term and its reports go to
Senior Management and then to the School Council.
Outstanding
work awaiting planning permission:

Selborne:
two staff flats to be built behind the A level Dorm building

Lushington:
the ‘centenary’ building alongside the Sports’ Hall. This will consist
of the Maintenance workshops, the Technology Department and the Art
Department. Approval awaited since 1998!
Work completed since May 2007:

The second squash court converted
into two new facilities on separate floors: a weights’ training room; a
drama studio

Re-location of the UPS
(uninterrupted power supply) for the ‘Treetops’ (computer) building
-
A pitched roof on ‘Hillside’ (A
level boys’ Dorm) for a drying area and a social space but also for
rainwater harvesting
-
Art Department modification: an
expansion into the ‘old’ girls’ dayroom
-
Support Staff maintenance
workshop: creation of a social space, principally for the men to have
their school provided lunch
-
‘Silverdale’ Dorm: provision of
(temporary) extra space for six A level boys
-
Conversion of old Audio-Visual
room into a Music Room: this has space for computers (A level and IGCSE
music)

Installation of a toilet for the
Early Learning Centre

Modification of staff family flats
at Selborne (Brighton Cottage) and Lushington (Cypress Court)

Fencing along the Toda village
path

aid with cleaning (changing space and solar heating is an Alumni
Project)
