HEBRON SCHOOL

PRAYER PAGE

June 2007 Prayer letter

Staff contribute prayer items especially for their families. Thank you for the way you uphold those who serve here, often far away from their homes and families.

 Reids

Alastair and I thank you for your prayers as we lead the school. Our thoughts are often with our children, all now in the UK, and our parents who are in good health at the moment but are not getting any younger.

Alix and Tom hope to come and serve as International Guests in January 2008. They continue to work and worship in Norwich. They often have Hebron reunions at an excellent South Indian restaurant.

Naomi is enjoying life at St Andrews and doing well in academics and sport. She has just been chosen to represent Scottish universities  for Korfball in June in the Netherlands. She is coming home to Hebron in August for 6 weeks.

Jonathan has nearly completed his Gap year and would like prayer that he will pass his driving test. He is attending many camps in the summer and then begins Arabic and Middle Eastern studies at Exeter in September. We hope he will meet up with Hebronites there.

 Greens

After a few days in Orissa we will be back in the UK for July, and are looking forward to having all the family together, including our three grandchildren. Please pray for God’s blessing on our time together and especially for the children for whom the UK is a new place and traveling around to different places is potentially difficult.  Deborah and Jonathan, Oliver and Simeon are still in Melbourne; Daniel, Karen and Jasmine are still based in Jordan and Esther is in Bristol. Anna recently moved to the East End of London to work in a hospital there, where she is enjoying an Asian neighborhood.

 Dodds family

Paul and Angie Dodds are having a three months break. Please pray for their time in the UK to be fruitful and that their daughters, Emily (Standard 13) Rachel (Standard 11) and Katie (Standard 9) would fit in with the Dorms when they return in August.

 Graham Family

We praise the Lord for thus far He has helped us. We are grateful for a wonderful year with the Inters dorm. Please continue to pray for enabling in all our responsibilities at Hebron. Please pray for safe travel for all, especially the big groups that are traveling to Chennai, Delhi and Calcutta.

 Orissa Project

27 staff and students will be involved in the project from June 15th – 29th. They will be building a community centre, preparing fields for cultivation and other jobs within the community.

 Please pray for:

  • Good relationships amongst the team and with the people we are visiting

  • Water (there is currently a water shortage in the area we are going to)

  • Safety as we travel and work

  • Health

  • Our Bible Study times each day (after lunch)

 School prayer and praise:

1. Praise:

  • Parents’ Week in April was one of the best to date! We have a very supportive parental body and the student/staff displays, concerts, Easter Pageant, sports, etc. were wonderful.
  • Rain arrived earlier than usual in pre-monsoon showers: great for replenishing the wells and springs. Do pray that the monsoon (now here) is a good one.
  • Blue/Gold sport: some excellent, healthy competition since the mid-term break in the Inter-House competition.
  • Exams: underway since May and progressing smoothly.
  • Staffing: mostly all in place for August.

2. Prayer:

  • Students finishing off exams.
  • Leaving students moving on to College/University or a ‘gap year’: for wisdom and for strength as they face many pressures.
  • Staff: we continue to advertise for a full-time ESL teacher. Pray for leaving staff as they make the transition back home. Two staff members are getting married (not to each other!). Please also pray for the necessary visas/extensions – new regulations are making things less easy than before. There is an ongoing ‘issue’ between two staff families – pray for a speedy but correct resolution.
  • New students (40+) and staff (3 couples and children) preparing for August.
  • A refreshing holiday for everyone.
  • On-going maintenance / building work: we hope to be able to re-model the Assembly Hall soon but are still awaiting planning permission for the new building.

Thanks!
