A sudden cold snap in the British weather causing damage from burst water pipes meant a fairly last-minute change of location for this year’s London reunion. Thankfully Lord Karan Bilimoria’s staff team were able to find another central London location which could just about squeeze us in! For the first time in a few years, we had to operate a waiting list of those registering to attend; we had approximately 190 people show an interest in attending, and with a bit of swapping about, we had approximately 170 people attend on the day. There was a wide range of Alumni ranging from 1950s students right through to those who graduated in June 2024. There was a lovely family feel with some people from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s attending for the first time with partners and children in tow.
Richard Naylor, Principal spoke about the importance of celebrating the amalgamation of the schools to form the current day Lushington Hall/Hebron School. Material was shared from the 100th celebrations prepared by previous Principal John Barclay. Since the reunion, more information has been collated to recognise the changes to school over many years – the reasons for and against and how things came into being and Hebron are continuing to consider how best to share this rich heritage.
Richard was also able to personally share up to date photographs of current students and staff, including lunch from that same day on campus at Lushington!! Alumni were very pleased to hear about changes made to break down the barriers between professional and support staff, by integrating them to a common lunch break in one staff dining room, showing recognition for the vital role support staff play in keeping the school running smoothly.
There was a plethora of Hebron memorabilia available including the much-anticipated recipe book published in 2024. Richard and Jeremy Niblett from The Sheiling Trust were able to share about new ways to support Hebron financially with specific improvements to different departments, permitting Alumni a chance to invest in the school’s future.
The 2025 reunion was a wonderful celebration of Hebron past and looking to Hebron future. Thank you to everyone who attended, especially those who helped with set up and serving on the day. And grateful thanks as always to our sponsor Lord Bilimoria whose generosity means we are able to meet and share fellowship. Remember, once a Hebronite, always a Hebronite!!!
